Supporters of Plateau United Football Club of Jos have initiated a player of the month award so as to boost moral of the players ahead of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season which kicks off next weekend.
Chairman of the Supporters Club, Shehu Umar stated this when he led his exco and other members of the Supporters Club to parley with the players and technical crew of the team shortly after the Thursday training session.
Umar who used the opportunity to welcome Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and new players to the team explained that the meeting is an avenue where the Supporters Club rub minds with the team ahead of the new season.
The Supporters Club Chairman who spoke extensively on discipline advised the players to shun all acts of indiscipline and work hard to realize the club ambition which is to win the league title or a continental ticket at the end of the season.
“We as exco of the Supporters Club will mobilize our members to give you the maximum support that will enable you to win matches and any player who indulge in acts inimical to the goals and aspirations of this team will incur our wrath.
He commended Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu for leading the team to victory in the Abuja Unity Pre-season Tournament and the Plateau State Football Association Pre-season Tournament and assured him of their unalloyed support to enable him to succeed.
The technical Adviser of the team, Fidelis Ilechukwu thanked the Supporters Club for their unflinching support since he assumed office three months ago and appealed for their continuous support.
He commended the management of the team for creating the enabling environment for him to discharge his duties effectively stressing that the technical crew under his leadership will work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Captain of the team, Golbe Elisha appreciated the Chairman and exco of the Supporters Club for their love and support to the team and assured that they will give their best to put smiles on their faces and the people of the state.
