Plateau United, a prominent team in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), is under scrutiny and facing substantial penalties following a breach of NPFL24 Framework & Rules during their Matchday 15 fixture against Kwara United on Thursday, December 21.
The disciplinary action stems from players and officials of Plateau United allegedly harassing match officials after the game in Jos.

This act of misconduct is deemed capable of bringing the game to disrepute, violating the principles of fair play and respect.
Plateau United has been charged with failing to ensure the proper conduct of their players and officials, resulting in the harassment and intimidation of the match referee after the match.
In response, a significant fine of N1 million has been imposed on the club for their actions.
Furthermore, individual sanctions have been levied on Plateau United’s Jimmy Ambrose and Charles Henlong.
The players face a suspension for the next three match weeks as a consequence of their involvement in the incident.
Additionally, the club’s team manager, Iliya Abel, is also suspended for the next three matches due to his alleged inciting and unsporting conduct.
Plateau United has been sternly warned about the possibility of facing stiffer sanctions if there is a recurrence of such conduct in the future.
The club has a 48-hour window from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions and present its case to contest the charges and penalties.
The NPFL24 Disciplinary Committee emphasizes the importance of maintaining the integrity and sportsmanship of the league, reiterating that all teams and officials must adhere to the established rules and regulations to uphold the spirit of fair play and competition in the NPFL.
