Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka, has announced a
youth development and community relations project in the form of a competition.
The initiative aims to engage young individuals from various communities across the state.
The event is being organized by DPO ‘C’ Division, LarryCarr Augustus, on behalf of the
police command and will involve participants from five wards, including Gangare Ward,
Ibrahim Kastina Ward, Garba Doho Ward, Sarkin Arab Ward, Abba Nashehu Ward, and C”
Division, Jos.
Opening ceremony of the tournament will be officiated by the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Onyeka, at Government Secondary School, Gangare, Jos, at 3.00 p.m. The
tournament will span two weeks, concluding just two days before the Sallah celebration.
The winning team will be awarded a prize of N100,000, while the second and third-placed teams will receive N70,000 and N50,000 respectively.
The tournament has received sponsorship from various entities, including the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, DPO ‘C’ Division, MALCO Mines, Ghali Pharmacy, Iliya Golden Touch, Moonshine Hotel, Nalele Pharmacy, A1 Food Restaurants, and other peace-loving citizens of Plateau State.
Statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alahbo,
explains that the event aims to foster a positive and collaborative relationship between the officers and men of ‘C’ Division and the peace-loving youths of Jos North Council.
Additionally, this tournament will provide an opportunity to educate Plateau Youths on
essential security tips to effectively combat crime within the state.
The organizers hope that by empowering the youth with knowledge, they can contribute to peace-building efforts and maintain security in their respective areas.
Overall, the competition serves as a platform for youth development and community
engagement, promoting a harmonious relationship between law enforcement and the
younger generation.
Through this event, the organizers seek to instill a sense of responsibility and active participation in the youths while equipping them with valuable security insights to safeguard their communities.
