Plateau United Technical Adviser, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has been appreciated by Fast Feet Athletic Club of Jos for his support.
The athletes made their feelings known when the presented a jersey to the coach at the Jos international stadium.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Chief Coach of the Team , Emeka Tony Ogaranduku said the gesture is aimed at saying thank you to the coach who has been a pillar of support and encouragement to the club since he assumed duties as Technical Adviser of Plateau United Football Club of Jos.
” We decided to give you this jersey as a mark of appreciation for your support to us. Your support has become a source of inspiration and strength to the athletes.
Responding shortly after receiving the Jersey, Plateau United Technical Adviser, Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu said the gesture is aimed at encouraging the athletes who are mostly youths to realise their dream.
Ilechukwu explained that as a football coach, he is not restricting his Support only to football , as he feel duty bound to assist other sports , a decision which prompted him to support the athletes to enable them attend a competition.
” This is not the first time am doing this. I organized football tournaments in the two previous team I handled. I sponsored three to four editions when I was with MFM of Lagos and I did same while I was at Heartland of Owerri. Infact, I have already organised one in Jos last year.
” We need to encourage these younger ones to enable them have a future tomorrow and become useful, not only to their families , but to the society at large.
He assured of continious support to the athletes to enable them achieve their dreams and advised them against substance abuse and other negative vices that will affect their lives and career in the long run.
