President Pinnick Amaju who talked about the mandate given to Gernot Rohr by the NFF to start to source for homes base players and use of the Asaba Stadium for the friendly match against Uganda.
Mr. Pinnick discloses that the, NFF told Rohr to sort for local players to compliment the foreign based players so that there will be good strides of development in the League and also Nigerian football.
He said, “Gernot Rohr’s continuous focus on foreign-based players for national team’s assignments is not right. If he uses foreign-based players against a team like Seychelles, I wonder what would happen when we play against big teams like Cameroon and the others.
The NFF president went to say that Rohr should learn from the exemplary ways of Super Falcons’ coach, who is always in the country sourcing for domestic talents for his team.”
Pinnick also revealed that he had been told of Rohr’s reservations about Super Eagles playing an international friendly against Uganda in Asaba, adding, however, that the coach had no right to choose a venue for Nigeria’s senior national team where they would play their matches.
As a football administrator i have been on ground for some years, i think Rohr should be able comply and respect the decision of the NFF.
He is also made it known that the Delta State Government has agreed to sponsor 70 percent of the bills in regard to the friendly match.
However, Playing the friendly match in Asaba is funds management for me, which the NFF are being offered almost sole sponsorship for the match by the Delta State Government .
NFF concluded by saying we hope for the best and we desire to have a greater face of football in Nigeria.
