Edo State Deputy Governor Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, trained with Edo Queens Football Club at Eagles Wings Sports Complex Utagba.

Addressing the players after an intensive training session, he congratulated them on the double victory recorded during the pre-season tournaments and reminded them of the need to rededicate themselves to the club to ensure that the dream of becoming champions of the new NWFL season and playing in African Women Champions League is actualized.
Hon. Philip Shaibu charged them to keep the momentum on, stressing that the rating of Edo Queens presently means that they are the best in the country.
“Let me congratulate you all for making the State proud during the just concluded Sheroes Pre-season Cup and Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament BOWFT. You did very well. I’m happy for you all that you did not let us down.”
“Pre-season competitions are actually to prepare a team for the regular season. Now that your first League game is tomorrow, you must try as much as possible to keep the momentum on, am sure you all know our target, this winning mentality must not come die, let’s have our eyes on the NWFL title and also see ourselves representing Nigeria at the CAF level”.
“For now, we are the best in the country, other States are copying from us, so for us to remain at the top we must put in everything in us to maintain that top position and also prove to people that we are potential champions.
I came to train with you girls this morning to boost your morale, encourage you, and let you know that we have a big task ahead.”
“Last time I saw you briefly, I promised I was going to give you One million for making us proud during the pre-season tournaments. So I appreciate you all and wish you a glorious outing in this new premiership season.”
“But for tomorrow’s match, I expect total victory. So I wish us the best. The government will continue to play its role in ensuring that all logistics needed for Edo Queens and Bendel Insurance FC to excel are provided.

Though we are not where we want to be Bendel Insurance and Edo Queens is still a work in progress, but I do know that one day we will get there.” Hon. Philip Shaibu told the players.
” Last season Bendel Insurance won the FA Cup after so many years, they played in the Confederation Cup but lost out at the second stage. We will continue to support you players and one day all our efforts will yield something positive.
It is our joy to see our players play top-flight football in Europe. I’m happy that two former Bendel Insurance players are outside Nigeria doing very well in their clubs.
Edo Queens also has four players playing professional football abroad. So we want to see our players making big progress out there. Amas Obasogie has been called to the Super Eagles camp.
