Former Super Eagles striker, Peter Ijeh has warned that it would be a disaster if the Nigerian team fails to qualify for the next FIFA World Cup.
Speaking against the backdrop of a long delay by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in naming a substantive coach for the Eagles, Ijeh reckoned that the soccer governing body is courting failure.

He took another look at what some people have termed ‘delay tactics’ by the NFF and urged the top shots to act fast to enhance the Eagles’ qualification chances.
Ijeh, who created top marks while playing in Sweden and China during his active years, insinuated that the NFF already knew the man they wanted to give the job, and urged them to be decisive in announcing their choice.
He added: “Nigeria is taking a risk the way it is going. They may call it delay tactics because I believe they already know who they want to pick as the Super Eagles’ coach. That has been the pattern of the NFF.
“The way I know them, they would have hinted at the picked man by now. They have to make it public quickly because it would be a disaster if Nigeria does not qualify for the next World Cup.”
He concluded with a verdict that failing to get a coach into the saddle at the right time would slow down the Eagles’ blending process, adding:
“We all know that early preparation is the bedrock for reaching the next stage of the competition.”
