Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has outlined the strategic approach that the team must adopt to secure victory in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The coach believes that progressing beyond the group stage is the initial step towards clinching the title.
“It starts with getting out of the group. That is the first aim, and finishing as the winners will also be a boost,” affirmed Peseiro, highlighting the importance of a strong group stage performance in building momentum for the knockout rounds.
Peseiro emphasized the critical role of solid defence in the latter stages of the tournament.
According to the coach, defending well is imperative for progress in the knockout rounds. While acknowledging the team’s offensive capabilities, Peseiro underscored the significance of a resolute defence to instil confidence in the attacking unit.
“When you have your defence not conceding goals, the confidence flows to the attack, and the result is always good for the team, particularly in a tournament that you want to win,” concluded Peseiro, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between defensive stability and overall team success.
As the Super Eagles prepare for the AFCON, Peseiro’s insights provide a strategic roadmap, emphasizing the need for a well-balanced and defensively sound approach to navigate the challenges of the tournament and emerge as champions.
