Perrin Thanks Fans For Support At Lagos Tennis Open

Switzerland’s latest female tennis rising star, Conny Perrin has expressed appreciation to fans of the sport for motivating her at the Lagos Tennis Open, where she has become a recurrent champion since its days at Lagos Governor Tennis Cup.

After qualifying for this year’s lady’s singles final at Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, in the first leg (Futures 4), Perrin told sports247.ng she always feels at home playing in the competition.

Perrin beat Tereza Mihalikova of Slovakia 6(2)-7(7),6-2,6-4 in the semi-final on Centre Court, to set up Saturday’s clash with India’s Pranjala Yadlapalli, who defeated Victoria Bosio of Argentina in straight set of 6-3,6-2.

In the men’s singles, number one seed, Tom Jomby from France defeated Briton Jack Draper to set up final with compatriot Arthur Rinderknech who beat Danylo Kalenichenko of Ukraine 6-3,6-2.

Of the lot, it is Perrin that has been a regular face in Lagos and had good results in the last three years to show for her coming.

She has been consistent in winning from 2015 to 2017 where she had won the women’s singles on three occasions, while she also won the doubles in the 2012 edition.

The Swiss player cited the support she always receives at crucial moments in the finals of the erstwhile Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis, which has been renamed the Lagos Open Tennis.

Perrin acknowledged: “I have been regular in Lagos in the past few years and the support from the people has been so great and I have to be thankful for this.“
