At least we made it to the third place, but we lost. It’s all right. That’s what we call football. Some people win, some people lose, and we draw as well. So it’s a game of football and it’s also a game of luck.”
When asked about the first goal conceded and the subsequent penalty shootout, Okonkwo highlighted the unpredictability of penalty kicks. “Penalty is a game of luck,” he explained.
“I was trying to read their mind, but I couldn’t. They are so intelligent about the penalties. So I think they all decided to play the penalty in one place, and I also decided to read their mind to go to one place first.”
Looking ahead, Okonkwo expressed optimism about his future aspirations. “I’m hoping to see myself higher, you know, going higher because I have the potential and I believe in myself and I believe in my skills as well,” he declared.
The goalkeeper also revealed his admiration for Manuel Neuer, a German professional goalkeeper, stating him as his role model.
Despite the disappointment of the loss, Okonkwo’s resolve to improve and succeed remains steadfast, reflecting the determination of CharlesAnn FC to bounce back stronger in future competitions.
