The President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), Chief Paul Edeh, has urged clubs that participated in the 2024 Sheroes Cup to prepare rigorously for the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
He made this call during the closing ceremony held at the Goal Project pitch of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Highlighting the tournament’s history and significance, Chief Edeh noted that clubs which excel in the Sheroes Cup often replicate their success in the NWFL premiership. Citing Edo Queens, Delta Queens, and Bayelsa United, champions of previous editions who went on to dominate the NWFL, Edeh emphasized the importance of consistency and preparation.
Speaking at the event, Chief Edeh congratulated the newly crowned champions, Remo Stars Ladies, who defeated Abia Angels on penalties in the final. “Remo Stars Ladies, this edition is your time. Savour it. I can see the joy and gladness on your faces. As you celebrate, it’s my prayer that you continue to celebrate, but that also depends on your consistency,” he said.
Reflecting on the tightly contested matches, Edeh remarked on the peculiarities of the tournament. “Both semi-finals ended in penalties, and the final matches were also decided on penalties. This shows that the upcoming NWFL season is open for any club to take. Everyone should look out for Remo Stars, considering how previous seasons panned out.”
Chief Edeh, who owns two women’s football clubs, Naija Ratels and Honey Badgers, also commended the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and the NWFL for their efforts in delivering a successful competition.
The tournament’s Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Adesanya, and LOC Chairman, Coach Haruna Ilerika, expressed gratitude to participating teams and supporters for their contributions to the hitch-free competition.
In the third-place match, Naija Ratels clinched victory against former Sheroes Cup winners Bayelsa United, winning 4-3 on penalties.
With the Sheroes Cup concluded, teams now set their sights on the challenges of the NWFL season ahead.
