Veteran sprinter Patience Okon-George once again proved why she remains the undisputed queen of the quarter-mile, storming to victory in the women’s 400m at the MTN CHAMPS Lagos with a commanding Season’s Best of 52.67 seconds.
The six-time national champion delivered a masterclass in speed, strength, and experience, leading from start to finish in a race that showcased her composure and trademark control. Her victory was never in doubt, as she pulled away from the field with ease in the final 100 meters to secure the gold.
Trailing behind her was Team MTN’s Miracle Donald-Uwem, who clocked 55.10s to take second place, while Pemisire Adedoyin Adepoju finished third in 56.29s.
Despite Okon-George’s dominance, the race was far from a walkover for the other competitors. For Donald-Uwem and Adepoju, it was an invaluable opportunity to race against one of the best in the business. Their performances, though not enough to topple the veteran, highlighted the growing depth of talent in Nigeria’s women’s 400m scene.
