Nigeria lost to France 75-54 in the second group B match at the Olympics, a step down in terms of performance when compared to their effective offensive play against Australia on Monday, Sports247.ng reports.

The coach was humbled and admitted the tepid performance of her ward saying the girls didn’t play their best game, they neglected what helped them to defeat the Australians.

‘ We didn’t play our game, we were not ourselves. What helped us secure the win on Monday we didn’t bring today. It’s tough when you let another team shoot 63 percent inside the paint, It’s hard to beat anybody”. Rema Wakama said.

The coach however promised a better performance against Canada as the team needed to beat Canada with a healthy gap to make it into the quarter final after today’s set back.

” We need to get back to our ways” she insisted.

A quick check on the statistics shows some of the ugly pictures which makes her bitter about the poor show of her wards.

Nigeria’s 54 points are their lowest posted by Nigeria in a single game in the history of the Olympics and the over 20 points gap between the France today, makes the third game the team ever Nigeria ever lost by more than 20 points in the history of the Women Olympic Basketball.

The team also allowed France players to serve a total of 25 assists, the most for them in a single game at the Olympics as 10 of France 12 players used in this game had, at least, an assist.

No doubt the team must find their mojo back re quick and put out a stronger showing in the next game against Canada on Sunday.

Australia bounced back to reckoning defeating Canada today, a result which drags qualification to the knockout stage to the wire on the next match day in group on Sunday.
