Nigeria began her campaign in the Athletics event on Friday morning with Temitope Adeshina failing to progress beyond the first round of the high Jump event.

The country’s soul representative in the event could only manage a best effort of 1.88m.
Temitope Adeshina who is a student athlete at Texas Tech University ended up on number 19th overall and dropped out of the Olympics as only the top 12 finishers to make the final.
It’s been a tough game so far for the Nigeria contingents as Long Jump joins Football, Boxing, Table Tennis and Badminton as events with no medal returns for the country.
Meanwhile Rosemary Chukwuma moved to the next round in the 100 meter Women Heats but Tima Godbless failed in her race .
Rosemary returns 11:26s to place third in her heat to qualify for the Semi Finals.
But Tima Godbless placed sixth with 11.33s to crash out of the 100 meter women event .
Nigeria will participate in men and women Discuss, as well the mixed Relays later in the day.
