The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and Nilayo Sports Management CEO, Hon. Bukola Olopade, Alhaji Balele have all fulfilled thier pre-match pledges of $25,000, $20,000 and $5,000 respectively to the Olympic Eagles following thier 2-0 victory against Tanzania.
Goals from Timilehin Ogunniyi and Success Makanjuola condemned the visitors to a 2-0 defeat and 1-3 loss on aggregate at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Olopade noted that the personal gift of $5,000 cash presented to the Olympic Eagles after the match is his own little way of motivating the players to victory and that he will still do more as the team progresses towards the Olympic Paris 2024 qualifying Tournament in Morocco.
The Olympic Eagles will play the winner of the fixture between Uganda and Guinea in the final round of the qualifiers in March 2023.
