Paris 2024 Paralympics : Ogunkunle, Alabi Storm Table Tennis’ Quarter Final

The Nigerian came from a set down to post a stunning 3 straight wins his round of 16 match.

Ogunkunle defeated Turkish player Abdullah Ozturk by 3-1 (11-6, 6-11,7-11, 10-12), securing a remarkable victory over the World number 3 ranked player.

Ogunkunle joins Kayode Alabi in the quarter finals who had earlier picked up a quarter final ticket in the day.

Alabi put up a spectacular game in his Round of 16, Men’s Singles Para-Table Tennis Class 6 match, to beat Romanian Bobi Simon to become the first Para Table Tennis player to win a set at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Alabi defeated Bobi Simion 3-1 (16-18, 11-7, 5- 11, 9-11), booking his spot in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Meanwhile in the Class 5 category, Bolawa Akingbemisilu put up a bravery fight as he lost after five sets to Brazil’s Lucas Arabian, 3-2, (11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-8) to miss out on a quarter final place.
