In a gripping performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Nigerian Women’s 4x100m relay team delivered a season’s best time of 42.70 seconds in the semifinals but narrowly missed qualifying for the finals by just 0.06 seconds.

The quartet, comprising Justina Eyakpobayen, Tima Godbless, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Favour Ofili, put up a valiant effort in Heat 2.
The race saw fierce competition, with Great Britain taking the lead with a time of 42.03 seconds, followed by France at 42.13 seconds, Jamaica at 42.35 seconds, and Canada at 42.50 seconds, all securing their spots in the final.
The Netherlands finished just ahead of Nigeria with a time of 42.64 seconds, while Spain and Trinidad and Tobago concluded the heat with times of 42.77 seconds and 43.99 seconds, respectively.
Despite their commendable performance, the Nigerian team fell just short of the top five needed to advance to the finals.
Reflecting on the race, Favour Ofili said, “We gave it our all and are proud of setting our season’s best, but it’s heartbreaking to miss the final by such a slim margin.”
