Nigeria Wrestler Hannah Ruben will be launching Nigeria’s last medal search as getting to the podium has become a mirage for Team Nigeria at the 2024 Paris 2024 Olympics, Sports247 reports.
Hannah will take to the mat at 10:49 am ( Nigerian Time) as she starts her quest for a medal against Mongolia’s Enkh Amaryn Davaanasan in Women’s Freestyle 76 kg wrestling.
Hannah is Nigeria’s last athlete standing in Paris after Joy Ogbone Eze crashed out on Friday to complete ” Black Friday” day of outing for Nigeria at the Olympics .
There was no medal’s joy from Eze, as she fell out of the medal zone in the women’s 71 kg Weightlifting by finishing in the 7th position lifting a total of 232kg in the: Snatch; Clean & Jerk.
The Nigerian Weightlifter gave it her best shot, attempting 105kg in the Snatch, and then lifting 131kg in Clean and Jerk, just to stay in touch with other weightlifters.
She becomes the 87th Nigeria Athletes to crash out of their events with zero medal return across 12 Sports as Football, Table Tennis, Basketball, Athletics, Cycling, Canoeing, Badminton, Boxing, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Swimming of all ended with no medal for Nigeria.
All hopes for a medal return now rest on the 13th African Games Gold medal winner.
