Parents,guardians and members of the Banana Island and its environs in Ikoyi, Lagos were excited as Island Stars Academy held Christmas party/Award ceremony on Sunday in Lagos.
Island Stars Football Academy has more than 100 players ranging from age 4 to15.The academy entertained its players at the christmas party held recently in Lagos.
Parents and guardians who brought their children to the end of year party ceremony expressed delight with the success and growth of the academy in the last few years saying that the academy has come to stay in the community and its environs.
One of the parents, Mr Femisola Awosika said the academy has been adopted by the community and congratulated the staff and management of the academy for the job well done.
“We parents that came to this end of year party are happy for the achievements and growth of the academy in the last few years.We have seen improvement on our children and we want to give kudos to the coaches for the job well done,”he said.
Cordinator of the academy, Victor Akinmoyo in his welcome address thanked the parents and guardians for their financial, moral and spiritual support given to the academy.
He however commended his coaching crew for their resilience and commitment to the academy saying that the children had learned a lot since they joined the academy.
He also outlined the academy achievements in the outgoing year and promised that the new year would be better.
“We have witnessed growth in the numbers of our registered players with over 120 players in our academy.Next year,we intend to participate in local and International competitions in various categories and I thank our parents and guardians for their support given to us throughout this year,”he said.
Some of the players who contributed to the success of the club received an appreciation award while some parents who contributed to the club immensely were also given an award.
