The secretary-general of Para-soccer Federation of Nigeria, Emmanuel Oludukiya has declared that the body is not fighting polio on its own, but says they have adequate support from the ministry of sports.
Speaking against the backdrop of the body’s involvement in Wednesday’s World Polio DSay activities, Oludukiya told sports247.ng that it is a joint-effort with the sports ministry.
Oludukiya stressed that the para-soccer sanctioning body works jointly with the ministry of sports in the efforts of the ministry of health to chase polio out of Nigeria, which is only one of three country’s where the disease is still prevalent.
Alongside Afghanistan and Pakistan, Nigeria is one the nations still battling polio across the whole world, but Oludukiya expressed hope that it would soon become a thing of the past with their efforts to create awareness through sports.
The scribe pointed out: ‘Nigeria is the originator of para-soccer in the whole world and, for us to now start using it to create awareness about the dangers of polio will help the health ministry be successful.
“We are not doing it alone, as the ministry of youth and sports is fully involved with us, and we are doing it together. That is a very big credit to Nigeria.”
