Organisers of the Asisat Oshoala Cup are expecting a tough game between Papa Soccer Queens and Owo-Igbe Queens in the final of the competition scheduled to hold on Friday at St Jude Primary School, Ilasamaja, Mushin in Lagos.
Super Falcons forward Asisat Lamina Oshoala through Asisat Oshoala Foundation have made the fourth edition of the competition an eye catching one.
The pacy forward is sponsoring the tournament to give back to the society.
In the semi finals, Owo-Igbe Queens annihilated Aseyori Queens 4-0 while Papa Soccer Queens defeated Nakamura Queens 3-1 on penalty shootout after playing 1-1 at regulation time.
Players to watch in the final are Rasheedat Ajibade, Kehinde Akinwande, Joy Jerry, Monday Gift, Chidinma Okeke, Agboola Abigael, Ariyo Sekinat, Olanrewaju Kaosarat, Adefuye Funmilayo, Olamilekan Aminat, Adegoke Taiwo, Oladipupo Olayemi and Precious Ese.
Tournament coordinator, Kazeem Alabi said that the competition has produced and discovered some young talents that can represent the country in the nearest future in FIFA organized football tournaments.
He said that he was impressed with the quality of players that took part in the tournament, saying that the two teams deserved to play in the final.
“The finalists have emerged and I am impressed with the performance of all the participating teams. The closing ceremony will be more glamorous and action packed considering the fact that the two finalists have not lost a match on their way to the final,” he said.
Chairman Organizing Committee, Emmanuel Osahon said that the two teams gave good accounts of themselves and they deserved to reach the final stage of the competition.
“Both teams were unbeatable on their way to the final so we are looking forward to an exciting final because we want to see which team would win the trophy,” Osahon said.
Prize monies of this year’s edition was reviewed with the first placed team earning one hundred thousand naira (#100,000), second will go home with fifty thousand naira (#50,000) with third placed team earning thirty thousand naira (#30,000).
Participating teams were augmented with five thousand naira each to cater for their logistics.
