In a bid to further the discussion of the game of Scrabble at the forthcoming rescheduled 2023 Africa Games in Ghana, the President of Pan African Scrabble Association, PANASA, Mr. Adekoyejo Adegbesan has arrived in that country.
The attention of the continental body has since been shifted to ensuring the successful staging of Scrabble at the upcoming Africa Games billed to hold in Ghana from the 3rd to 24th March, 2024.
The president who oversaw the highly successful maiden President’s Cup and African Youth Scrabble Championship, AYSC/Winifred Awosika Foundation in Lagos last week, will meet with the Scrabble Association of Ghana (SCAG) led by Haruna Adamu to kickstart discussions on modalities for the Africa Games.
It could be recalled that the continental body during the AYSC/Winifred Awosika Foundation Trophy Tour in May, submitted proposal to the Local Organising Committee, LOC of the 2023 Africa Games for the inclusion of Scrabble in the Africa Games.
Upon the submission of the proposal by PANASA, the LOC gave a nod to allow Scrabble as a demonstration sport at the forthcoming Africa Games.
The approval has once again, confirmed it’s spread in the history of Scrabble development as this will be the first time the mindgame will feature at Africa’s “Olympics.”
