Enyimba of Aba defender, Valentine Ozornwafor has described ‘a dream come true’ his invitation to the Super Eagles.
Sports247.ng reports that the towering central defender is gaining from his exploits as assistant captain of the Flying Eagles at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.
Although he could not marshal the squad to gold, as they ended up in fourth spot, Ozornwafor was one of only two Nigerians int he all-star best 11, alongside team captain, Ikuowem Udoh Utin, such that Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr saw him good enough for accelerated promotion.
Now that he has gained the expedited step-up, Ozornwafor admits he is very excited, and vowed to put in his very best in order to stand out in the senior national team.
However, while affirming that he will not be in the Eagles’ camp just to make yup the numbers, the lanky stopper added that he is not going to camp with a do-or-die attitude, as all players in the squad have equal ambitions of making Nigeria proud.
Ozornwafor attested: “I will say it is a dream come true. I believed with God and hard work that will be a stepping stone to greater things.
“I’m not going to the national team to make up the number and I have set myself a target.
“We will all work to achieve a greater thing in future. To advance to a greater thing, that has been my aspiration as a young lad.”
