Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State Command, Dr John Adewoye has advocated the appointment of professionals and technocrats into sports administration to engender rapid turn around and development, sports247.ng can report
Dr Adewoye stated this at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan while playing host to the executive and members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Swan, Oyo State Chapter during a courtesy visit.
The Oyo State NSCDC boss noted that appointing seasoned professionals to man the sector would revive the dwindling fortunes of the nation’s sports.
Dr Adewoye noted that the nation recorded a lot of achievements in facility development and winning laurels during the period when professionals managed the nation’s sports sector.
Dr Adewoye, however, promised to partner swan in taking sports to a higher pedestal in Oyo State.
Reacting, Chairman, Oyo SWAN, Mr Olaolu Fawole said the visit became imperative as part of a familiarization tour of the executives to various stakeholder in sports including security agencies to seek for mutual cooperation.
Mr Fawole also stressed that the association would do everything possible to raise the bar of the association and sports in the state through various programmes for serving sportsmen and women, agencies, parastatals, schools and veterans.
