Oyo State NFCA Cracks Down On Quack Coaches, Distributes Operational Licenses To Over 1,394 Certified Coaches

The Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Oyo State Chapter, led by Coach Akinola Olatunji, has taken a significant step towards sanitizing football coaching in the state by distributing Operational Licenses to certified coaches across the 33 Local Government Areas and Development Councils.

The event, held on Friday, saw 1,394 registered coaches receive their licenses, signaling a new era of integrity in football development.

This initiative is part of the association’s effort to eliminate quack coaches and unregistered individuals who operate illegally within the football scene in Oyo State.

The move has garnered widespread support, including from HRM Oba James Odeniran, the Alakinyele of Akinyele and Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, who praised the initiative as crucial in tackling issues such as child trafficking and other related problems in football.

“In strict adherence to Oyo State’s reputation as a pacesetter, the end has come for individuals who coach without proper licenses issued by the NFCA under the leadership of Coach Akinola Olatunji,” said HRM Oba James Odeniran, stressing the importance of certification in fostering accountability.

The NFCA had earlier launched the “Operation No License, No Practice” campaign on May 29, with dignitaries such as Dr. Ladan Bosso, President of the NFCA, and various government representatives in attendance.

This initiative underscores the association’s resolve to cleanse the system and protect young footballers from the dangers posed by uncertified coaches.

Coach Olatunji reiterated that any individual found coaching or training players without a license will face severe consequences. “We are committed to regulating football coaching in Oyo State to ensure that only certified professionals are allowed to practice,” he said.

Coach Ayodeji Charles Adeyemo added, “This initiative will protect our children from quack coaches and ensure their football development starts on the right path.”
