The maiden edition of Oyo state Junior Golf Clinic will take off in Ibadan, Oyo state capital on the 12th of April, 2021.
Special Assistant on Sports Development to Governor Seyi Makinde, Honourable Tobi Oyewumi made this known while speaking with newsmen in his office. While speaking, he noted that the event is a clinic and also a competition, which will introduce teenagers to the game at a younger age.
Honourable Oyewumi, who is the organiser of the Golf Clinic assured that the tournament would discover talents among children between the ages of nine to seventeen
“Talents to be discovered at the Golf Clinic would be given opportunities to develop themselves and become professional Golfers, that is the main goal”
He disclosed that apart from regular training to nurture the talents to the limelight, winners in the children category will go home with mouth-watering gifts which would be presented to winners in the pro category.
“This is going to be an annual tournament and it is in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda to develop sports and check youth restiveness” Honourable Oyewumi added
He maintained that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration has been working round the clock to promote and develop sports in the state.
The office of the Special Assistant on sports development to Governor Seyi Makinde had last December held the first GSM Tennis Championship where talents discovered are representing Oyo state at the ongoing national sports festival in Edo state.
