Oyo State FA Vows Fair Play as SDK, Iwalewa FC Clash For Nationwide League 2 Spot

Football enthusiasts in Oyo State are brimming with excitement as Sult De King (SDK) FC of Ibadan and Iwalewa FC of Saki prepare for a crucial two-legged showdown that will determine their fate in the Nationwide League 2 Division.

The much-anticipated clashes are slated to take place at Olubadan Stadium in Ibadan and Saki Township Stadium in Saki on August 28th and September 2nd, respectively.

SDK, who dominated the zonal competition in Ibadan, are entering this playoff with confidence after an impressive campaign that saw them breeze past their competitors.

Meanwhile, Iwalewa FC, who ruled the Saki zone, are equally poised for victory, having showcased their dominance on home turf.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, HRM Oba James Odeniran, also known as the Alakinyele of Akinyele, emphasized the fairness of the competition, noting that the association has created a level playing field for all teams involved. “The best team will win the ticket,” he said confidently.

In his address to newsmen in Ibadan, Oba Odeniran, a former Premier League referee, highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of the sport. “The only way football can grow is by making the game truly competitive, enabling us to have a worthy representative in all fronts,” he stated.

He further assured that the association has taken stringent measures to ensure the matches are officiated fairly, with poor officiating strictly prohibited.

Expounding on the arrangements, Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo, Secretary of the Oyo State Football Association, detailed the format of the qualifiers, confirming that the teams will face off in two-legged matches.

The first leg is set for Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at Olubadan Stadium, while the return leg will take place on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, at Saki Township Stadium. Tickets for both matches are priced at N200.

With both teams eager to secure their place in the Nationwide League 2 Division, fans can expect a thrilling and competitive encounter.
