The Oyo State Football Association, under the leadership of Alakinyele of Akinyele, HRM Oba James Odeniran, has officially unveiled the logo and committee for the inaugural edition of the 2024 Jubril Dotun Sanusi (JDS) Football League.
The unveiling event took place on Monday at Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Oloyo Village Akanran.
Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi, CEO and sponsor of the league, emphasized that the primary aim of the JDS League is to create a robust platform for nurturing young football talents within the state.
He believes the league will provide a springboard for future prospects from Oyo State. Sanusi, the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, stated that the newly unveiled logo represents the league’s identity, promising its presence across social media and digital platforms.
“This league is a unique opportunity to make Oyo State prominent in terms of youth development. A country of over 200 million should produce more talent if resources are properly utilized,” Sanusi remarked, expressing his commitment to supporting youth development through sports.
He further revealed that he had recently purchased a football club in the Czech Republic, offering talented players from the JDS League a pathway to European football.
HRM Oba James Odeniran, Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, added that the four semi-final teams would be outfitted with branded JDS jerseys.
The competition, he explained, is intended for National League One (NLO) teams and non-league clubs, with a comprehensive set of rules to ensure fair play and smooth operations.
The Secretary of the Association, Kehinde Ojelowo, echoed these sentiments, outlining the roles of referees, medical personnel, and media teams in ensuring the success of the league.
Vice Chairman, Comrade Ayangbile Isaac Olawale, praised Sanusi’s initiative, recognizing his contributions to youth empowerment in both Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
