As the 2025 Oyo State Federation Cup begins this Tuesday as part of the 2025 President Federation Cup, the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, HRM Dr. Oba James Oluyemi Odeniran, has assured football fans of transparent and fair officiating throughout the tournament.
The retired FIFA referee, who was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Community Development by the International Peace and Conflict Management University (IPCMI), Kingdom of Flourishland Australia, in collaboration with Women’s Effect Initiative International, emphasized that referees from the Oyo State Football Referee Council will adhere to the highest standards while officiating matches.
Oba Odeniran, the Alakinyele of Akinyele, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to producing credible champions, just as it has in the past three editions. Notably, Saki United (2022), Shooting Stars (2023), and Ilaji FC (2024) emerged as winners in previous years, defeating Oyo Housing FC, Ilaji FC, and Shooting Stars, respectively.
He further assured that the competition’s appointment committee would ensure unbiased, firm, and high-quality officiating, maintaining the integrity of the tournament.
The 2025 edition will kick off on Tuesday at 3 PM at the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku, Ibadan, with Crown FC of Ogbomoso facing Zion-Liberty FC. The action continues on Wednesday as 2024 semi-finalists Adeyemi FC take on NLO side Oyomesi FC at 3 PM, while Shooting Stars will host Oye Olohun FC on Thursday at the same venue and time.
