The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has congratulated the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on the Supreme Court Ruling that affirmed him as the governor of the state saying that it is now time to transcend party lines by working for the interest of everyone in Oyo State.
He said only a government that is inclusive of everyone in the state can deliver the kind of development that the people are expecting of their government, especially when the resources for building the state are sourced without discrimination for party affiliation.
In a statement issued by his Media Office on Friday, Mr. Dare noted that the processes leading up to the Supreme Court ruling have further enriched the democratic space in Oyo state and Nigeria at large.
The statement said the maturity with which stakeholders in the state submitted to the judiciary is an indicator that the people are becoming entrenched in placing the collective interest above narrow individual interests, which calls for those elected to serve them to reciprocate by avoiding exclusive governance.
It urged Engineer Makinde to accept that “with the Supreme Court ruling, it is time for you to become the Governor of Oyo State and not be beholden to only one political party. This latest development calls for dropping all affiliations and working only to serve the millions of Oyo state people whose crave for development cut across party lines.”
