The Oyo State Football Association (FA), under the leadership of His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) James Oluyemi Odeniran, the Alakinyele of Akinyele, in collaboration with Peculiar Ultimate, has announced Monday, December 30, 2024, as the date for the final of the Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) U-20 Football League.

The league, a brainchild of the Oyo FA and Peculiar Ultimate, is aimed at promoting youth development in line with Governor Makinde’s vision.
The FA chairman, Oba Odeniran, lauded the Governor’s contributions to creating opportunities for young talents. He stated,
“We’re incredibly proud to be associated with Governor Seyi Makinde for this laudable initiative. His outstanding performance in governance has inspired us to sponsor this league, and a lot of talents have been discovered through this tournament.”
The competition’s prize money includes ₦500,000 for the champion, ₦300,000 for the runner-up, and ₦200,000 for the third-place team. Additional awards will honor the Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Referee of the tournament.
The third-place match, featuring Muhibbat Football Academy, Iseyin, and Ana Football Academy, Ibadan, is scheduled for 1 PM, followed by the final between Rehoboth Football Academy, Ibadan, and AFRAS Football Academy, Iseyin, at 3 PM. Both matches will take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Oba Odeniran and Peculiar Ultimate emphasized that the competition will be an annual event, creating a sustainable platform for nurturing young talents across the state.
