A Lagos-based youngster, Oyeyemi omotolani has disclosed that the biggest obstacle standing between him and a career in football is lack of encouragement.
While baring his mind in an exclusive interview with sports247.ng, Omotolani posited that he would be able to make it big as a professional footballer if he gets adequate support.
He, therefore, urged people in government, philanthropists and corporate bodies to lead the way in encouraging young footballers like him, especially as Nigeria is currently in need of new talents.
Oyeyemi omotolani added, “I am a footballer and particularly into goalkeeping. Nothing is stopping me from being a professional goalkeeper but, in Africa, we just need encouragement and support.
“We don’t really have the right support while trying to achieve our ambition. We need what it takes to encourage us in how to become professionals in football.
“The chances of becoming a professional footballer in Africa are slim, because the right kind of support is rare.
“What we need is total support from the government and everybody around us. If we get the needed support, we are good to go.”
However, Omotolani concluded with a charge to all aspiring footballers in Nigeria and across Africa to keep working hard and never give up until they realise their ambitions.
“All the same, we just have to keep trying and don’t give up. Normally, football is not easy.
“So, we just have to manage, try and believe that one day we’ll make it,” he advocated.
