Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has appointed Osun United Vice President, Vincent Akinbami as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Sports Development with effect from Monday, May 3, 2021.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect is in line with the commitment of Governor Oyetola to further reposition Osun Sports and ensure proper management and supervision of the sector to bring about expected development and progress.
The New SSA, Akinbami, who, until his appointment was the Vice President of the ‘Omoluabi Giants’ hails from Ifetedo in the Ife South Local Government area of Osun State. He is a Football Administrator and Chartered Accountant who was born and raised in Kaduna.
Before his appointment as Chief Ademola Adesina’s Vice, Akinbami was a Sports Presenter on AIT/Raypower Kaduna, a Correspondent of Soccer Stars Newspaper as well as
a former Media Officer of Ranchers Bees Football Club of Kaduna.
He holds B.A (Ed) Economics from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and also attended the University of Calabar for his PGD. As an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN), Akinbami had worked with several firms as a broker, insurance expert, auditor, and many more.
Together with football technocrats in Nigeria such as Minister of Sports Sunday Dare, NFF President Amaju Pinnick, Chief Segun Odegbami among others, Akinbami was recently honored by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to present a paper on the “Running and Efficient Football League in Nigeria” which held March 2021 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
