Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024. He will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo, whose term ends in 2025.

The Nigerian leader’s visit follows an invitation from Mahama, who met with Tinubu during a December 2024 visit to Nigeria. The two leaders share a personal relationship, reflecting the broader, longstanding ties between their countries.

As Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the swearing-in ceremony.

He will be accompanied by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior government officials.

The event underscores Nigeria and Ghana’s enduring partnership and their mutual commitment to regional stability and collaboration within West Africa.
