Former Chairman of Warri Wolves Football Club, Mr. Moses Etu has joined the football fraternity in applauding the boldness and sagacity of the Club Owners who confessed their heinous sins to the newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
Etu, who was once a renowned journalist with Today Sports appreciated the confession time made by the club owners during the meeting and advised them to turn a new leaf for Nigerian football to grow
According to a release made available to newsmen shortly after the meeting with the NFF boss; “the Club Owners unanimously congratulated the new NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and Members of his Board and pledged total support to the Board on any steps that will take to ensure that the Nigeria Professional Football League lives up to the professional status”.
“The Club Owners collectively maintained that the NPFL has suffered serious problems in the past six years and identified the following areas:
a) Lack of Sponsorship
b) No TV Broadcast
c) Poor Officiating
d) Insufficient Funding
d) Lack of Match Integrity
e) Poor remuneration of match officials and huge indebtedness in this area
f) Matches won on the basis of the Highest Bidder
g) Poor Infrastructure
h) Incompetent Administrators
i) No prize money for winners and/or failure to honor same, et cetera”
Etu, who is a graduate of English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife said that the Association had voluntarily exposed itself on how they destroyed the structure of Nigeria Football and they also indicted their co-sinners, who are the members of Nigeria Referees Association, NRA on how they went about their illicit activities in Nigeria Professional Football League.
He added: “I sincerely appreciate the Club Owners for their true confession and I think what is left for them is to assure Nigerians that they would no longer indulge in these shenanigans and they would no longer disturb the innocent Referees on the win for cash negotiations. If they do, it will return the good old days into our football and produce true representation in the continent.”. Warri Man submitted
