Assistant Coach of Altivelis track club, Lagos, Adeniyi Adewunmi has stated that the aim of the club is to scout for young talented athletes, who are good in athletics, as well as helping them develop their game.
Adeniyi Adewunmi stated this, in an interview with Sports247 at the Agege Stadium, where he spoke extensively about their club and their mission to help to promote athletics in the country.
“This is a track club, and we are trying to catch young bright talents in athletics, in order for them to get to the highest level in athletics”.
“So far so good, we have had so many programmes around the country and I believe with the efforts of the coaches and everyone in the club, something big will come out soon in terms of athletics in Nigeria”.
“With the crops of athletes here, and with time, I believe that we will have athletes to represent the country in the Olympic Games soon”, he stated.
When being asked what motivated him to venture as an athletics coach, Adeniyi stated that it was due to his desire to bring the bright and young youths into the limelight, as many youths mostly want to play football, ignoring the game of athletics, so he wanted to help scout for amazing athletes in terms of athletics.
“I ventured into athletics because I saw many talents wasting, and most of them only believe in playing football, so I had to encourage them that with athletics, they can also make it as well”.
“I was motivated to bring these talents to the limelight and help them develop in the game of athletics, he added.
