Coach Bolarinwa Idris has admitted that the Gold Cup Tourney experience has been rewarding to Phoenix Athletic Sports Club.
The Ado Ekiti based team lost its debut game to Remo Stars 2-0 at the Akure Stadium on MatchDay 2.
“The defeat didn’t leave us disappointed as we played good passing football to the amusement of fans.
“We lost the game in the first half because we played Remo Stars with respect and we paid dearly for it, as we conceded the two goals in the first half.
“In the second, I told my players to get focused. They did that and at the end we kept Remo Stars at bay in the 2nd half.
“We take the positive from the game as we are delighted to be part of a pre-season tourney that is sanctioned and rated best by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the league bodies.”
