After several consultations with football stakeholders, coaches, and friends both home and abroad, head coach of Messiah Football Club of Lagos, David Dosu has declared intention to contest for chairmanship seat in the forthcoming elections of Lagos State Football Coaches Association.
Dosu who is currently a Leader in Ikeja Football Coaches Council said the time has come to change the face of Lagos State Football Coaches Association, LSFAC. Dosu said he is coming out not to witch hunt any candidate but to contribute his own quota to the state football coaches association.
He said his experiences over the years in football and coaching would help him to reposition and better the lives of coaches in the state if he gets elected.
“Our coaches need better leadership. Though the present leadership has done their best my intention to come out is to bring new innovation, ideas, strategies and more importantly concentrate more on the welfare of the coaches and ensure that our coaches in the state are employed which this administration lacks to do. Like I said before the present administration has tried its best but my administration would bring a drastic change to the association if I am elected as chairman,” said Dosu who begins his political campaign to tour 22 councils of the state as from next week.
Asked why he took him time before he announced his intention to contest for the chairmanship seat, Dosu popularly known as Apelete said he needed to consult some stakeholders in the state and get their support. He also disclosed that he came out because some coaches have given their support to him hence prompted him to contest for the chairmanship seat.
“I took my time to announce my intention to contest for the chairmanship seat in Lagos because I need to consult some stakeholders who gave me their consent to go ahead. People are calling me before now if I am contesting or not but I told them to give me time but today (yesterday) I am declaring my intention officially to run for the chairmanship seat in the forthcoming Lagos State Football Coaches Association, All I want from Lagos football coaches is to give me their votes, support and prayers during the election day and I promise to fulfill my campaign manifestoes if I am elected as chairman,” he said.
Some candidates who are contesting for the position of the chairmanship seat in Lagos are Ifeanyinchukwu Moses Ikpo, Yamala Fredrick, Hassan Tairu, and David Dosu.
