The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has been recognized with a Special Service Award by the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Daniel, who represents Ogun East Senatorial District in the Senate, received the honor from the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. C.G. Musa, during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day event in Abuja.
Gen. Musa highlighted the common yet concerning trend of posthumous recognitions and praised the military’s decision to acknowledge the former Ogun State Governor’s contributions while he is still alive.
As the Special Guest of Honour, Daniel commended the Armed Forces for their unwavering dedication to national development.
Speaking on behalf of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Daniel emphasized that the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces are invaluable and cannot be fully repaid.
The event featured highlights such as an art exhibition and a showcase of high-caliber, locally manufactured military vehicles.
Dignitaries in attendance included the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede; representatives of current service chiefs; former service chiefs like Admiral Dele Ezeoba (rtd), Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar (rtd), Gen. Lucky Irabor (rtd), and Air Marshall Isiaka Amao; as well as senior military officers and other distinguished guests.
