It was a day of celebration for the Ottasolo All-Stars football team after defeating Ikola All-Stars football team 2-0 in a penalty shootout to win Annual Greenland All-Stars Tourney.
The final which was watched by a mammoth crowd took place on Monday at Abesan football pitch, Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos.
To reach the final stage, Ottasolo All-Stars played 1-1 with Ifako- Ijaiye All-Stars and went ahead to beat Greenland All-Stars Team B 2-0, while Ikola All-Stars walloped Jalisco All Stars 2-0 and beat Greenland All-Stars Team A 2-1 to book a place in the final.
The final match was very tough as both teams gave good accounts of themselves before Ottasolo All-Stars won through penalties after a barren draw at the regulation time.
Match coordinator, Tunde Craig expressed satisfaction with the success of the tournament saying that the essence of the annual competition is to bring all-star players together and celebrate the yuletide period.
He said the tourney is not all about winning but creating a forum for yesteryears players to feast together and exchange pleasantries to one another.
Some of the All-star players who spoke to our correspondent commended the organizers for the initiative and urged them not to rest on their oars in the next edition.
Six All-stars took part in the competition. They are Ikola All-Stars, Ottasolo All-Stars, Jalisco All-Stars, Ifako-Ijaiye All-Stars, Greenland All-Stars Team A and B
