Ottasolo Football Club suffered 2-3 defeat against FC Athletico in the opening day of Peace Cup which kicked on Sunday at the Akinola football field, Aboru, Iyana-Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos.
Ottasolo who came with the large supporters started on a brighter note by coming from behind to draw their opponents 2-2 in the second half.
When their fans were jubilating for their brilliant effort of their players, their opponents scored the late goal through Ebuka Igwe to break the hearts of Ottasolo fans.
Athletico coach, Fatai Sulaiman expressed happiness with his team victory saying that the reverse fixture would be more tougher.
“The competition is designed in home and away format.We cannot be celebrating now because we would still play them once again but having won our home match is a morale boost for the players to do well in the return leg,”he said.
In other matches, Shuffle Select demolished Sizoko 8-1, while Lad One suffered 0-1 to Future Hero as Idan FC and Fadob FC game ended in 2-2.
Commenting on the day one of the tournament, match cordinator who doubles as CEO of Sport Medical Awareness,Dr Kolade Kolapo said he was impressed with the level of officiating and standard of play by the teams.He said the competition has attracted football fans noted that over three hundred fans came to watch Peace Cup.
“Let me say the day one of the Peace Cup had lived up to expectations in terms of fans attendance and fair officiating.We saw beautiful goals from various clubs and this is to tell you that Peace Cup has come of age.I thank our fans and invited stakeholders for honouring our invitations and i believe that day two would be better than this,”he said.
