Nigerian-born basketball prodigy, Otega Oweh had a torrid outing with Kentucky Wildcats in USA’s collegiate league, on a night his team lost to Louisville Cardinals; and the highly acclaimed shooting guard was at his lowest ebb.
Sports 247 reports that, while his sxhool’s entire squad looked jaded on the night in the NCAAB, Oweh failed to lift them and his statistic were below average, thereby raising eyebrows about his psychological base.

While the 22-year-old Oweh ambled, Louisville romped to a 78-58 second-half lead over the youngster’s ninth placed Kentucky squad, then weathered a late surge by their rivals to secure a 96-88 victory.
Much to the astonishment of everyone at the arena, Oweh, who was last season’s MVP and is already primed for selection in the next All-America squad, struggled from the field (4 of 13) and with ball control.
While posting 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 5 turnovers for Kentucky, Oweh was clearly outplayed by Louisville’s backcourt lads.
However, in contrast with Oweh’s blight, Cardinals won with superior guard play by Ryan Conwell and Mikel Brown Jr, who were both pre-season first-team All-ACC selections and combined for 53 points.
While Oweh’s Kentucky committed 14 turnovers, the Cardinals dished out 20 assists on 31, made field goals and turned the ball over just six times.
Oweh’s coach, Mark Pope, said afterwards; “They were physical with him. I thought they brought a crowd. They did everything we didn’t do. They were really good at bringing a crowd, making him play through multiple defenders.”
