Vandrezzer FC defender Ekpo Godwin has expressed his delight with his side’s 1-0 win over Ekiti United in match week five of the 2021 NNL campaign.
Kolawole Daniel’s first-half strike was the difference between both teams in a lively encounter.
Post-match, Ekpo Godwin told Sports247: “We are really happy to have been able to get the three points. We are so happy.
He admitted to the pressures on Vandrezzer to secure promotion to the NPFL and becoming the second team from Lagos to be playing top-flight football.
“We know there’s a lot of pressure on us to qualify and get to the NPFL. But then we think we are ready for the task ahead. Yeah, we are ready.”
Expo also weighed in on the incident of last weekend where Osun United fans created a chaotic atmosphere for the Vandrezzer players and club officials in their league clash.
Osun United have been fined N300,000, including other sanctions while the match against Vandrezzer will be replayed at a neutral ground.
“We are happy because finally justice has been served. What happened in Osun state was not really a welcome development for our football.
“What happened there, the violent conduct there was very, very bad. We thank God justice has been served.” Expo said.
