Osimhen’s Brace Lifts Galatasaray to a Thrilling 2-1 Win Over Rizespor

In a thrilling Turkish Süper Lig encounter earlier today, Galatasaray secured a 2-1 victory over Çaykur Rizespor, with  Victor Osimhen delivering both goals for the league leaders.

The match, held at the Estadio Çaykur Didi, saw a goalless first half. Shortly after the break, in the 47th minute, Osimhen broke the deadlock with a powerful header from a precise cross by Przemysław Frankowski.

Rizespor responded swiftly, equalizing in the 54th minute through Ali Sowe, who capitalized on a well-placed assist from David Akintola.
As the game approached its conclusion, Osimhen once again showcased his aerial prowess, netting the decisive goal in the 86th minute to secure all three points for Galatasaray.

This victory extends Galatasaray’s lead at the top of the Süper Lig standings to six points over second-placed Fenerbahçe, managed by José Mourinho.

Osimhen’s performance has been instrumental this season, amassing 19 goals and five assists in 24 appearances.

Beyond his goal-scoring feats, Osimhen drew attention during the match due to an incident involving Rizespor’s Casper Højer.

Debate ensued over whether Osimhen’s actions constituted a punch, making it one of the most discussed moments of the game.

Post-match celebrations showcased team unity, with captain Fernando Muslera donning Osimhen’s signature mask while engaging with the fans.

Osimhen praised Muslera’s leadership, stating, “Muslera is a great person, more than just a captain. He played a significant role in our victory.”

Looking ahead, Galatasaray is set to face Fenerbahçe in the highly anticipated Istanbul derby next weekend.

The team is also preparing for the Europa League return leg against AZ Alkmaar, aiming to overturn a 4-1 deficit from the first leg.
