Gennaro Gattuso coached Napoli for the last time on Sunday as a draw at home to Verona ended the Blues’ chances of participating in next season’s Champions League.
After the match, Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed Gattuso’s departure from the club after almost two seasons in charge.
Victor Osimhen paid homage to a man who was a big deciding factor on his move to Italy last summer. He thanked Gattuso for playing his part in his development both on and off the pitch.
He wrote on Instagram: “You have been instrumental towards my development, not just as a player but also as a man. I really appreciate all you do for me on and off the pitch.
“I admired you as a player and to be able to work under you and call you my BOSS is something I will never forget in a rush 100%. I hold you in high esteem forever. I wish you all the very best on your new adventure BOSS.”
FC Porto boss, Sergio Conceicao is rumored to be Napoli’s preferred choice to replace Gattuso. Christophe Galtier of Lille is also in the mix.
