Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen says the biggest thrill for him from his side’s Turkish FA Cup victory over Fernebahce is that he and his colleagues were able to regain the support of their teeming fans.

Sports247 reports that Osimhen and his teammates were downcast after losing 2-1 away to fellow-Istanbul-based Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig on March 30th, such that defeating another local rival in the FA Cup had a huge morale boosting significance.
Osimhen, who netted twice in that dramatic win over Jose Mourinho’s side, disclosed: “We knew that Fernebahce versus Galatasaray is always an intense game.
To win, you have to stay focused from the first blast of the whistle to the very end. We were really optimistic coming here to put on a better performance, just as we have done, because we had a bad game last week.”
Osimhen acknowledged that the loss to Besiktas spurred him and his colleagues to romp back better against another top club, and he further expressed personal glee in how he was able to net a brace in the victory, which he believes should put The Yellow & Red side into the right frame of mind for their next Lig fixture.
“To be able to regain our fans for their support, we had to put on a very good show against a very good side, and I’m happy that I was able to contribute with two goals. Now that we have advanced in the competition, we’ll think about our next game,” Osimhen rationalised.
Sports247 gathered, though, that Osimhen and his pals are resting this weekend, as their next fixture is on Sunday, April 13th, at home with Samsunspor, who are two matches ahead of every other team in the Super Lig’s fixtures’ chart.
Incidentally, Osimhen’s Galatasaray have played a match more than Fernebahce, who happen to be their nearest rivals in the Lig and stand second placed on the table, but a likely victory for them against Trabzonspor on Sunday would take Mourinho’s side, who also have Bright Osayi-Samuel in their squad, to 68 points – which would be just three behind their top-placed conquerors.
