Victor Osimhen failed to score in Galatasaray 3-1 defeat of Fernabache in the early season top of the Super Turkish League table clash though providing an assist on Saturday evening.
He led the line for Galatasaray, playing as the arrow head of the
attacking tripod option of the coach as Mauro Icardi and Michy Batshuayi played behind him upfront.
The match was the first between Galatasaray and Fernabache since Osimhen and Jose Mourihno left the Serie A for the Turkish as excitement reached feverish level before the kick off of the Intercontinental derby on Saturday.
The Nigerian forward combined well with his teammates to inflict defeat on Fernabache and open up an 8 point – gap at the top between the bitter rivals early in the season.
Fernabache went down in the 20th minute
through an own goal by Dominik Livakovic, before Victor Osimhen provided an assist in the 28th minute, cleverly chested down the ball for Dries Mertens to double the advantage and went into the half time break leading 2-0
After the break, Galatasaray continued from where they stopped as Lucas Torreira put a seal, assuring the Gala fans of their victory on the day, scoring in the 59th, the third goal of the day.
Fenerbahçe got consolation in the 63rd minute as Edin Dzeko converted from the penalty from the penalty spot.
Victor Osimhen tried as much as possible to get a goal for himself as the match drag on, all to no avail as the match ended in 3-1 victory for his side, Galatasaray.
It’s another wait for the Nigerian to score his first goal for his new club after playing in two matches.
He now has two back to back assists in the two matches he has played since joining the in the summer transfer window despite Galatasaray scoring eight goals in those two encounters.
