Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen is blowing hot over an accusation that he punched a journalist who took his photograph without permission.
Sports247.ng reports that, although the journalist alleged that Osimhen physically assaulted him, the Nigerian striker, who is on loan from SSC Napoli of Italy, tagged it an ‘agenda of lies,’ which he says is not the first time.
Osimhen declared at length: “I need to clarify some situation. I went to eat with my friends. I was coming back, going to my van, and these guys just popped out from nowhere. They put the camera in my face, and I was shocked.
“Obviously, you guys have seen the video on the internet. I was like this … I was shocked. I was asking them, ‘What’s the problem? Why did you pop out the camera in front of my face?’
“They said they were paperrazi. ‘Okay, what do you want?’ They didn’t say anything. They just popped the camera in my face … and there was a guy taking pictures. Then my friends went to meet them and I said, ‘You cannot do like that. If you are a professional, you have to come and ask for an interview’.”
The 2023 African Footballer of The Year then addressed the journalist’s allegation of being punched, which Osimhen described as a bunch of lies and inferred that the issue might have to be settled in court.
“I never punched this guy. I never hit him or something like that. I went to him. I was in the midst of them, and I told him, ‘You have to take the picture down. You have to delete it. It’s my picture.’
“I have every right to tell him to take it down. And then, of course, he came up with his agenda, but I am not new to this kind of thing. I knew they were going to lie and lie.
“This is a case of violence, and it came out to the light; but it’s not going to be an easy one. I don’t need to shout, but I will take the necessary step to make sure … if I hit him, he’s going to get justice. If he lies, he will face the wrath of the law,” Osimhen stressed.
