Oshoala’s Deut Goal Enters La Liga Record Books

FC Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala has been cited in the record books of the European country’s soccer body, sequel to the Super Falcons’ star’s qucikfire goal on her debut with her new team.

Oshoala, whom joined The Catalans’ female team on loan from Dalian Quanjian of China last month, eventually got her chance to star in the high-profile women’s league last weekend, and made the best of it.

Sports247.ng reports that the three-time African Women Footballer of The Year proved her mettle by hitting target a minute after going on, such that La Liga egg heads were left scrambling for the record books, and eventually noted her effort as the fastest goal ever by a substitute.

Oshoala, who will likely get her home debut for Lluís Cortés’ side against Sporting Huelva on Wednesday, showed what she can do in her side’s 4-0 win against Rayo Vallecano at Ciudad Deportiva in Madrid on Sunday.

The former FC Robo Queens of Lagos and Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt ace, who has also played for Arsenal and Liverpool Ladies in England, went on for Alexia Putellas in the 62nd minute and struck her first goal for The Blaugranes seconds later to wrap up the team’s victory.

Apart being a record in the league, Oshoala’s 63rd minute goal against Rayo Vallecano is also the fastest ever debut goal she has scored for her European clubs, but not the first on a debut.

Oshoala scored 46 minutes into her debut for Arsenal in a 3-1 victory versus Reading on March 23, 2016 and in her second match for Liverpool – following 115 minutes of game time after joining The Reds.

She will now seek more gloriuous days with the female squad of Barca, who are three points behind female La Liga leaders, Atletico Madrid on 54 points from 20 matches.

La Liga have now noted Oshoala’s latest feat, as she aims to keep in shape and on top of her game heading into this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, billed for the summer in France.

The league body stated on their Twitter handle @LaLigaEN: “’62 ▶️ Comes on for debut. ’63 ⚽️ First #LigaIberdrola goal@AsisatOshoala made the perfect start to life at @FCBfemeni!”
