Organizers Release Screening Schedule For 8th National Youth Games

As preparations for the 8th National Youth Games gather momentum, the Organizing Committee has unveiled the schedule for the eligibility screening of athletes, marking a significant step towards the commencement of the competition.

With contingents from various states already arriving, the event is poised to begin, but first, all athletes must undergo this crucial screening process to ensure compliance with age and eligibility requirements.

The screening exercise is slated for today, September 11, and will be conducted in three distinct batches, with each batch accommodating different sporting categories.

The first batch, scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, will include athletes from Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Deaf Athletics, and Tennis.

These athletes will kick off the screening process, setting the stage for a smooth transition into the competitive events.

Following this, the second batch will undergo screening between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Sports in this category include Fives, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Kungfu, and the remaining Volleyball teams. Notably, the screening process for traditional sports, such as Abula, will also occur during this time slot.

The final phase of screening, running from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, will accommodate Para-Athletics, Para-Table Tennis, Rugby 7, Scrabble, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Traditional Sports (Kokowa and Ayo), Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

This structured screening aims to ensure fairness and compliance across the competition, which is exclusively for athletes under the age of 15.

The Organizing Committee emphasized the importance of this process in a statement, stating: “The screening ensures that all athletes meet the eligibility criteria, maintaining the integrity of the National Youth Games.”

With the screening schedule now in place, the Games are set to move one step closer to a highly anticipated start.
